On Sunday, I approached the text, the temptations of Jesus (Luke 4:1-13), from the perspective of the Church.  Just as Jesus had to face the questions, "Who am I?" and "What is my mission?" when he was in the wilderness, we, as the Church, must ask the same questions as temptations from society, different groups, and varying beliefs, face us.  These are necessary questions to ask as the People of God and important questions to ask as Epiphany Church.

Moving into this Lenten Season, it is a good time to not only look at ourselves (this is where these questions begin), but also look at our identity and mission as Epiphany Church.  Our mission is a strong statement of inclusiveness and hospitality; our congregational values are "statements" of belief that lead us to being true to our identity and our calling.  It is not only a Lenten, wilderness journey,  it is a journey for life.
